Macomb High School is planning to buy new marching drums this year. We have our choice of brands, of course, but the only drums I’ve worked with in the last 10 years are the ones we currently have. If you’re viewing this page, it’s probably because I sent you a link to solicit your opinion.
We’ve pretty much narrowed it down to the following three:
- Dynasty
- Pearl
- Yamaha
Our priorities for this purchase are, in order:
- Sound – if it doesn’t good, nothing else really matters
- Maintenance – Outside demands on my time grow each year, and I would like to minimize the amount of time I spend on drum maintenance.
- Price – Budget, of course, is a concern as well.
Other considerations are visual appearance, weight (does anybody else think kids keep getting smaller?), etc…
