What Did I Say

Tonight we net over to Hal and Corey’s house for some entertainment.  We like food network.  A lady from Macomb that I met a month or two ago was on Throwdown with Bobby Flay. So we had to watch it.  It was Ginger Bread Houses, and they look awesome.  We brought a key lime pie, it is Corey’s favorite.  And we like it too.

We Three Kings

Tonight was our ward/church Christmas party.  It was also a talent program.  Jacob, Annette Arnold and Megan Orton did a piano trio of We three Kings.  It was fun.  There were other good acts as well, but I am only posting this one on our site.  Enjoy, we did.

ToeMato Juice

I was working at the preschool again today. I like being there. I really don’t have any fun preschool stories today. However, when I went to pick up my car** Taryn and Bailey came out to greet me***. They invited me in where I visited with Heather for a while. They offered to return to me the tomato juice I had left at their house many, many moons ago. So as it sat there next to me Zack**** tried hard to pick it up and carry it around. It is at least half as tall as he is and may weigh half his weight*****. He is adorable.

Messie Jessie

Over night and this morning there was bad freezing rain and I was unable to get my car out.  I was babysitting Aiden this morning.  I called and they had to bring her over here**.  We played and had fun I think.  We normally do.  However before they brought her over I was trying to see if I could move Jacob’s car out of my way to see if I might be able to get my car out where the ground is less slick***.  One foot led to another and I managed to have Jacob’s car slide into the ditch just enough that there wasn’t enough contact to get it out myself.  What’s more about that, Jacob is sick.  So I asked Jason and Jessie if they wouldn’t mind helping me get the car out of the ditch.  We got it just out of the ditch and left it to sit till the ground thaws just enough to not slide more.  In the process Jessie got covered in mud.  I felt horrible about the mud and grateful for the help, and she swears it came out ok.

Croquembouche

My friend Ally is getting baptized on Sunday.  She had her interview in Carthage today, so I took her up so she would have company/support.  We did the tour of the Carthage Jail.  I know it surrounds a sad event, but there is such a spirit there.  It was a good trip. I am grateful we only live half an hour away from there and an hour from Nauvoo.

When I got home we decided to make rice crispy treats and cover them with the chocolate I already had melted.  We piled them up into a Christmas tree and gave it a French name to seem cool**.  It was fun.  Mom, Rick, Ginny, Skyler, Ronda, Gavyn, Geneva, and Gretchyn were all there too.  There was a “talent” program as the main event.***

If It’s The Last Thing We Ever Do

Ronda called me and said they needed to “get out of this place.” So I told them to come on over. We had fun. The girls and Gavyn ran all over, climbed the stairs (and the piano). Then as the younger generation started to fall asleep, we started playing games. We decided we need to have get-togethers like this more often. The shorter folk slept on the beanbag chairs and we pulled out the futon for Matt and Ronda.

At first I was shocked that he let her climb up on the piano. Then I realized that Geneva could do anything, and he would think it adorable.

Gavyn found the drumsticks and the practice pad took then into the living room all on his own and started playing.

Both girls loved climbing the stairs.

Gretchyn fell asleep on the kitchen floor while we were playing games.

I Hope She Washed Her Hands

I was at WallyWorld this evening looking for treat supplies. I was standing in the cookie aisle trying to decide if what I wanted to do would work better with regular sized oreos, or the minis. I decided on the regular and turned to put the package into my cart when just a few feet away from me I notice a couple college age girls. Normally I wouldn’t even see them, however one of them had her coat pushed aside and her hand clear down her pants scratching her tookus** (aka her butt). Her friend noticed that there was another person in viewing distance and told her to stop. The craziest part, is that the butt scratcher was not a bit embarrassed. I proceeded to the marshmallows and laughed hard.

Turkey Day Part 3

Admission of delinquency *

Today we had thanksgiving at Jacob’s parents’ house with his mom’s family.  It was a lot of fun.  I really do like that this year all of our places to attend held festivities on different days!  It meant that we got to spend more time with each family, and less stress driving.  Thank you families for making it easier on us.
The food was great, even though immediately after filling his plate, Jacob dumped it on his dad (background) and the floor (foreground).
Many of the guys went out and raked leaves for a neighbor that could not do it them self.  This includes the missionaries Elder Koegler** and Elder Bates***.
Kevin, Showing off for the ladies****.
  Will, Imitating Kevin.

We did the traditional craft painting, and we went over to the church and played volleyball.

****  Too bad the only women there were his sisters, mom, and nieces.

Turkey Day Part 1

We went to my dad’s house today for the big dinner. There was good food, and lots of good company. Here are pictures and a video.

Volleyball Tournament

I am not really all that into sports, but I love to play volleyball and soccer (the true football). Today was the Stake Volleyball Tournament for Church. My friends that are in charge of organizing it called me and asked if I could help out with the sign-in process (Corey had to be out of town, and Hal didn’t want to man it alone). I gladly said “yes,” it was an opportunity for me to practice my OCD coping skills. I would just get the papers in order and some random person would come up and mix them up. Oh well, I can get over it, if I have to, I guess.

We played well. Our young men had fun playing. Our young women were the winners of the Consolation Bracket (in layman’s terms, the looser’s bracket) They only lost one match; they did very well. The youth coed team placed second. Our adult men’s (Jacob) team got first place, as did the adult women’s (mine) team. We had two adult coed teams, team B got first place and team A got second place. Jacob and I were on team A, with his parents, Ally Campbell, David Connelly, and Rob Deveraux. It was a lot of fun.

Funny note: one boy (I am guessing about 12 years old) asked, “What field are we playing on?”
